shifted paradigm #3: innovation 06/09/08

This is the last of the original shifted paradigms that give this company its name.

A constant problem in the web development industry is staying on top of the latest, greatest thing. Even harder is being an agency that innovates. In this ever-changing industry, many agencies are content to develop websites and apps that are functional, but not on the cutting edge. That's exactly what we're not going to do.

Many people think that the larger interactive agencies are the ones that drive innovation on the web. But more and more, the opposite is proving to be true. Facebook, MySpace, Ruby on Rails, and countless other projects prove that the smaller agencies (or non-agencies) are the innovators in this industry. It just takes too much time and effort for large agencies to change established ways of doing business, much less come up with new ideas. Which keeps them a step (or two or three) behind true innovation.

Because we will remain a small agency, bringing in talent on a project-by project basis, we can use the latest innovative ideas and concepts. And when we see an opportunity to be the innovator, we can jump on it.

How will this benefit our clients? Our clients can rest assured that however small the project, they will have access to the newest and best ideas the web development community has to offer at any given time. Large agencies simply can't say that. The most cutting-edge stuff for the little guy. Just another paradigm shifted...
