shifted paradigm #1: quality 02/04/08
“What paradigms are being shifted,” you might ask? Well, I'll be sharing three paradigms I intend to shift over the next three blog posts, starting with
Shifted Paradigm #1: Quality for the Little Guy.
Small businesses have it rough when it comes to their website. Most settle for a cheaper, inexperienced developer or a pre-packaged, template-driven service, ala Yahoo Small Business. The result is usually not the site you dreamed of, to say the least. But even the ones who hire an experienced pro don't get the quality they deserve. To most professional developers, a small business site is nothing more than a quick buck; a bridge between more interesting and higher-paying projects. They bang out a simple design, drop in the content and call it a day.
Here's the first paradigm we're going to shift: we're going to build professional, custom designed and developed, high quality sites for all our clients, and we're going to do it at a reasonable price.
Mind you, we're not trying to match the prices of the drag-and-drop services out there. We're just trying to make professional web development available to the little guy. We're going to keep costs low and implement innovative development strategies so we can continue to offer reasonable prices to small businesses.
We want long-term relationships with all our clients; not to bang out a site, get a check and disappear. We want to be able to stand behind our work. We want to be proud of every site we build. And most importantly, we believe that every small business deserves a great website.
